“Rejection”

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10

How does rejection make you feel? For most of us we feel as if we don’t have a friend in the world, that we are isolated. Whether it is a spouse’s unintentional insult, a co-worker’s gossip, a boss’ corrective criticism, or a friend’s betrayal, rejection hurts.

Usually when rejection hits, I crawl into my shell and focus on my hurt feelings which usually leads to stinkin’ thinkin’. My humanism wants to lash back. But God’s plan is different. He wants me to handle the situation with understanding and compassion and grow from the experience. He wants me to pray for my rejecter.

I don’t always honor God, but He always loves me with mercy and grace. When I focus on Him, the rejection doesn’t hurt quite so bad, and I began to see Him in the situation.

Application
Are you letting another’s opinion define you?

Prayer
God, I pray for wisdom when I feel rejected
