“Truth”

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
Ephesians 4:14-16

The scripture is clear that we are to do away with false lifestyles and to live with integrity. That’s easier said than done. What if the truth hurts?

What if as a supervisor you are to confront an employee on poor performance? What if a friend asks your opinion on a situation, and you know your response will not be what he wants to hear? The Bible says we are to cling to the truth in love.

Is your love for others strong enough that you can deliver the truth in love? Too many times people use honesty as an excuse to express resentment and criticism. Too often our relationships are shallow because we hide behind pleasantries.

Application
Stand firm in Christ, gentle in love; and speak the truth.

Prayer
Father help me to work on loving others in a way that honors you.
