“Patience”

“In everything do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Matthew 7:12

The girl at the counter was nervous when she took my order. I could tell she was unfamiliar with the process and was worried about getting the order correct. As I placed my order, she was kind and focused. Once the order arrived I tasted my tea before adding the sweetener and realized she had given me sweet tea and not unsweet tea. I kindly asked for unsweet tea. She seemed humiliated. I assured her I was a regular customer, I would be back, and that everyone had to learn. I said, “You’ll get it. It’s okay.”

How often do you lash out at the attendant on the phone if you’re trying to place an order and there’s a language barrier. Or has a co-worker lost patience with you when you were trying to learn a new task? How did it make you feel?

It’s important to be kind in all situations. Reverse the circumstance and think about you want to be treated.

Application
Who needs your patience today?

Prayer
Help me to be kind to others regardless of the circumstances.
