"No Such Luck"

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

James 1:17

 

Whenever something good happens to someone, lots of people say things like "they sure are lucky" or "it must be nice to have 'Lady Luck' on your side". Before simply handing over prosperous times to luck, however, let us be reminded by this scripture that God alone is responsible for giving good gifts. Luck and circumstances are ever changing, but God is forever the same.

Application

God is the one source of goodness, kindness, and "every good and perfect gift" you can imagine. Have you taken the time to thank Him for all He has given you lately?

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for blessing us beyond measure. No matter what our circumstances are, we know that you alone are our source of blessing and goodness. Enlighten us all to the gifts you have given us, and may we not forget their source.
