The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
How many decisions does the average person make in a day? If you do an internet search on the question, you will find the average number of daily decisions, range from hundreds to as many as 5,000 in a day.
When you get up in the morning, do you use the bathroom first or get a cup of coffee? When you get to work do you turn on your computer first or check voicemail? Do you make dinner or buy fast food? Do you help your co-worker when you are caught up, or do you stretch you work out so you don’t have to help anyone else?
Some of your everyday choices are random, others are weighty. Either way, they are choices that lead us in one direction or another. Will I choose to ignore the drama at work, put a stop to it, or participate? Will I choose to react in anger, because I didn’t get my way, or will I accept the decision with grace and mercy?
The beautiful choice is that God chooses to love you, despite your daily decisions. You can decide if your choices will honor God and please Him or dishonor Him and make His heart sad.
Application
Keep a journal for a week. You will be amazed at the decisions you make.
Prayer
Father, help me be mindful that the choices I make affect others.
