“Guilt”

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:1-2

Have you ever worked for someone who used guilt to motivate? It gets the job done, but how do you feel while working on the project or when the job is finished? Do the ends really justify to means? I don’t think so. In the generation that I grew up, parents loved using guilt to motivate, whether it was to make your bed or the friends you selected, it was a tool to steer you in the direction they wanted you to go. Guilt has always made me feel bad. It didn’t matter if I used it or if it was used on me, the awful feeling was present.

God would never use quilt to motivate. He uses grace.

Application

The next time you are given the opportunity to lead a group, whether at work, home, or in the community, think about how you lead. Is it with God’s grace?

Prayer

Father, may I be an example for you in all I do.
