"True Peace"

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.

"True Peace"

Lots of times, we hear people say they just want peace. Many protestors throughout time have been photographed with various signs asking for peace. While worldwide peace would be great, it doesn't seem possible in our day and age. We live in a cruel world, and sometimes it feels like there's not much we can do about it. In this passage, however, we see a message about how to achieve true peace: through our Lord Jesus Christ. God promises us lasting peace if we will only believe in His Son, Jesus.

Application

If we profess Him as our Savior and Lord, He will ensure that there is nothing between us and God. While there still may be wars and violence going on all around us, we can be at peace knowing that God holds our future in His hands and that He will protect us. He doesn't promise that He will remove us from bad situations, but that He will help us through them. Peace is only a prayer away.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please draw us close to you so that we may feel at peace with you. Please let us focus only on you, and not the circumstances around us that we cannot control. Thank you that through a relationship with you through your Son, we can experience true, lasting peace. May we pass this promise of peace onto others so that they, too, can have peace in their hearts.
