“Identity”

See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called his children, and we really are!
1 John 3:1a

I friend sent me a message to check out the new family photos she posted on Facebook. I jumped on the computer after dinner to sneak a peek at my friend’s photos. I typed her name in and realized she wasn’t showing up. Odd. Then I realized, my daughter had been on the computer earlier and had not logged off. I had a different identity. Quickly, I logged off and back on as “me”.

How many other times in life have you encountered a mistaken identity? Maybe it’s our own still small voice telling you “you’re not good enough” or “you’ll never change”. Or was it in your childhood when your parent said, “why can’t you be more like your sister?”

Don’t lose focus of your identity. You are a child of God. You were bought at a high price. You are loved. You are in the family of God.

Application
Replace self-doubt with a positive statement about yourself.

Prayer
God, when I begin to think of myself in an unhealthy way, remind me whose I am.
