“Hurt”

God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
Romans 5:5

I was at work and encountered a co-worker who said something very negative about me, and I was deeply hurt. When I shared the experience with my husband that night, I vowed to keep my distance from this person.

Nevertheless, within a week I was in my co-workers presence. Although it was a little awkward for me at first, I soon forgot the incident and was right beside the co-worker engaging in a work project.

Looking back, I realize that it was only because God’s love poured into my heart was I able to forgive and work harmoniously with my co-worker. I know that even when I am hurt deeply and long for revenge, I can commit my feelings to God, who can turn my hurt into love.

Application
With God’s love in me, I am able to love those who hurt me.

Prayer
Father, help me and others who are struggling to forgive someone who has hurt them.
