Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters.
Colossians 3:23
The church youth director asked me to be his accountability parent for a youth white water rafting weekend. I enjoy the outdoors; I have experience white water rafting. But, I wasn’t sure this was “the trip” I needed to chaperon. My daughter wanted to go, so there was the “reason” for me to go to.
There were 15 who traveled that weekend—two of which were adults. The mix of kids ranged from sixth graders to seniors in high school with four different school systems represented. What I learned that weekend was service and love. Serving the kids was a blessing to me. They all loved and accepted each other for who they were. It was beautiful to watch God work in the simplest of ways from sharing food to putting on a life vest.
When we show God’s love everything is better, no matter if it’s a weekend trip with church kids or every day at work.
