“No Frills, Just Love”

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
James 1:19-20

I’m not fancy, nor am I very spontaneous. I have friends who amaze me at how beautifully dressed they are each day with all the accessories. I have other friends who on the spur of the moment will drop everything and go out of town for the weekend. I’m just not wired that way. My philosophies are have a plan, work the plan, and keep it simple.

There was a time in my life when I felt less than adequate, because I didn’t wear all the accessories. I’ve had friends and family give me a hard time, because I’m such a planner and not spontaneous. But what I’ve come to realize is that it’s not about what you wear or if you plan or if you are spontaneous; it’s do you genuinely love?

People just want to feel loved. For some love is defined as noticed or valued. Maybe for another person it’s being included. Think about a family member, friend or coworker. How do you show love? Or are you more interested in showing your fancy frills than building the relationship?

Application
Focus more on showing genuine love today. Make a difference in someone’s life and let them know they are truly valued.

Prayer
Forgive me for looking at myself and help me to show genuine love to all those I encounter today and every day.
