Give us this day our daily bread.”
Matthew 6:11
The scripture doesn’t say “give me what I need for the rest of my life” or even “give me enough to retire”. It clearly states “daily bread”. Our human behavior wants to possess and know we have enough to live comfortably for 75 to 80 plus years. God wants us to rely on him and not be concerned about tomorrow.
What if we took that simple principle and applied it to all areas of our life? Take your job for example. If you will focus on the task at hand each day and not get side tracked on the big order next week or your co-worker who was moved into another position over you, the day will be more productive, move faster, and in the long run, the big order next week won’t be as “big”, and you will be in a better position at work.
Application
Do you take one day at a time?
Prayer
May I trust you Lord to provide my daily bread and not try to get ahead of you.
