“Smile”

Carry each other’s burdens.”

Galatians 6:2

Our church plays a contemporary video to launch the early service each Sunday. Recently the video depicted random people in a fast food restaurant. In text beside each smiling person you read what was really going on in his or her life. An example was the cheerful cashier, it said, “lost her mother last month to cancer.” Another was the middle aged man having coffee— “laid off from work yesterday.”

We encounter people each day. Some we see at least five days a week at work. Others might be once in a life time; maybe it’s your cashier at Wal-Mart or maybe it the co-worker that stands beside you each day. Extend a smile and a courteous remark. It might be the most pleasant exchange he or she has experienced all day or for a few days.

Application

We all have burdens as well as victories. Share a smile and a kind word with everyone you meet.

Prayer

May I not be so caught up in my afflictions, so that I may share God’s love with the person next to me.
