“No Excuses”

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.

Isaiah 41:10

Have you ever been asked to do something you had no clue how to start? Maybe it was at work or maybe it was a volunteer position or maybe your child put you on the spot. Either way, it’s a helpless feeling. Sometimes pride lets you take on the task without a clue, other times we back down not thinking we are capable.

I remember being in a position at work that called for me to step into another’s role not by choice, but by situation. I quickly talked to God, and asked for His will to be done. Then I kept saying Philippians 4:6 over and over in my head, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be made known to God.” The situation was handled; no one failed, or was embarrassed. And God’s will was done.

What I learned was that God empowers us to do what He calls us to do. He doesn’t except excuses. He wants us to trust.
Application

The next time you are unsure, talk to God through scripture. Pick a verse that means something to you and say it over and over.
Prayer

God, thank you for walking with me.
