“Judging”

Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.

John 7:24

The woodpecker was rhythmically pecking on the streetlight globe. That made no sense at all. Usually the birds peck to find food, and there was no food on glass. Curiosity got the best of me; I researched it on the internet. The woodpecker was sending a matting call. What seemed to be a stupid bird, was actually a very smart bird.

How quickly I jump to conclusions sometimes without finding out the facts. Do you ever do that? Maybe you judge too quickly a co-worker or a circumstance at work when you really don’t know all the facts surrounding the event. Jesus’ words, “Do not judge by appearance, but judge with right judgment,” have often hit hard with me. I try to look at all the facts before making a decision. Sometimes quick judgments keep us from seeing the truth.

Application

Take time to gather the facts.

Prayer

Father, help me not to judge, but to gather the facts and seek your guidance in all situations.
