“Vegetables”

To all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away.

Matthew 25:14-30

My brother is a wonderful gardener. Some of the things he grows are tomatoes, potatoes, squash, and peppers. He is generous. Regardless of my visit or his to me, he always has a bag of fresh vegetable to share. One day as I emptied by bag, I thought what would happen if I forgot to get them out of the car, or if I was too lazy to get the out of the bag. The vegetables would rot and be wasted.

Maybe God is like my brother, working quietly in the garden of my life, filling my bag with gifts and skills for me to use.

Application

Has God given you a gift that you aren’t using? When we use what’s in our bag, God can fill it up again.

Prayer

Help me to discern and use my gifts and talents.
