“What did you say?”

Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. 

Proverbs 4:24

 

Have you heard the old saying, “stick your foot in your mouth”? How many times have we all had to do this because we said something we shouldn’t have? God instructs us here to be careful about what we say. Words cannot be changed once they come out of our mouth, so they can do irreversible damage once released.

Application

Be careful what words you use. Be careful how you say them too. God’s desire is for all His children to work together in unity for the glory and honor of Him. Are your words glorifying to God? If so, keep it up; but if not, heed the words of this Proverb: “keep corrupt talk far from your lips”. What you say reflects what is in your heart, so choose your words with much thought and consideration.

Prayer

Please let my words be a reflection of a heart changed by You, God. Let us always take caution in what I say so not to disrespect my brothers or sisters. Amen.
