Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
Luke 18:27
When I was growing up seventh and eighth grade constituted junior high school. As an eighth grader, I was on the top of the heap, because I was a cheerleader. However, at the end of the eighth grade I had a defining moment. I tried out of the junior varsity high school cheerleading squad and did not make the cut. The devastation repeated itself as the end of my freshman year, with the same results.
Looking back those moments were defining. The unlikely events turned me to a different path. It opened me up for the path God wanted me to travel, instead of the path that I thought was the only way to travel. Look at the scripture. There are many who didn’t fall into what society deem “important”. Take David, an adulterer, but described as a man after God’s on heart. Moses who said he wasn’t an eloquent speaker, but delivered the Ten Commandments. And the woman at the well, a known sinner, led her entire community to Jesus.
Application
Do you feel unlikely? Get ready. God does not call the qualified, He equips the called.
