“Lost”

Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

It was the first trip for the rising sixth graders to have the opportunity to take with the youth group. The destination was north Georgia, for a white water rafting adventure. The group was loaded and ready to head to the river. The head count was made and one was missing. It was a very active, outspoken, sixth grade boy. Calmly one of the counselors tried reaching him on his cell phone. After a few tries, the young man answered. He was crying and panicking that he had been left.

Because of modern technology an adult did not have to leave the group and seek the young man by foot. However, I’m sure that would have been the next measure, if unsuccessful by phone. Once the young man was back with us on the bus, you could see the relief in his face.

We are all like that young man, when we are lost. Thankfully, God never stops looking for us.

Application
The next time you feel lost, seek God to guide you.

Prayer
Father, draw near to me when I become disoriented. Show me the path you want me to take.
