Be still and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10
Wife, mother, sister, employee, volunteer, and the list goes on. Do you ever feel you are pulled in so many directions you don’t know which direction is next? I find myself praying for help…. “God help me with….” or “Lord show me how…..” then I realize there is too much chaos and too many distractions.
Sitting in the break room eating lunch with at least 10 other employees you could have heard a pin drop. Most were engrossed in their cell phones, checking email, social media or sending a text message. One employee spoke up and said, “if you had to miss a meal in order to keep you cell phone, would you give up your phone or one meal day?’ The majority answered, “a meal.”
In order to truly focus on God, you must “be still”. That means putting down the cell phone, turning off the computer, and maybe even missing the volunteer meeting. I want so badly to get still; and God wants more earnestly for me to get still and talk to Him.
Application
Get still. Have a conversation with God.
Prayer
Help me commit my time and attention to you, Father.
