“Let Go”

“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense”
Proverbs 19:11

According to Rick Warren, “There are people in life who always want their way. They’ve got a right way and a wrong way to do something, and your way is always the wrong way. When you don’t meet their standards, they’re going to let you know about it. And it always seems you can never quite please them.”

I’m sure there are people you either work with or are in your family that are just that demanding. How do you respond to them? Proverbs 19:11 tells us patience comes from perspective. The more we understand about a person, the easier it is to be patient with their temperament. What burdens are they carrying in their “little red wagon”? A spouse may be terminally ill. Financial issues may be looming. Or maybe a child has been arrested.

Love is understanding. It doesn’t mean you let someone run over you; however, it does call you to treat others the way you want to be treated.

Application
The next time you encounter a demanding person, consider what might be fueling the demands. Step back. Let go. Show love.

Prayer
May I be more discerning with those who are demanding and overbearing. May I let go and show love.
