“Gradual Maturity”

“…we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.”

Ephesians 4:13b

Americans are obsessed with speed. We want a quick fix, a shortcut. Technology has encouraged the obsession with speed. We want one “click” to solve the problem or be the short-cut. In the fable of the tortuous and the hare, the hare thinks his swiftness is the answer and takes his gift of speed in vain.

With a “click of the mouse” we are not mature. It takes a multitude of experiences to encounter growth. And then, are we mature? It’s the commitment to learning through experiences and taking the road less traveled that builds maturity on many levels.

 Application

Think about your job. Are you always looking for the quickest way to get the job done? Or are you slowly stepping through the processes to ensure accuracy and correct performance?

 Prayer

May I realize my growing pains are the stepping stones to gradual maturity.
