“Habits”

“We shall become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ’s full stature.”

Ephesians 4:13b

We live in an instantaneous world. Everyone wants a quick fix; speed over stability seems to be the going trend. Examples: a remote control for your TV, a diet pill, fast food, smart phone. Is your character built on speed or slowly over the course of your actions?
Real maturity isn’t the result of one instant action, but rather the slow process of experiences that build upon each other. Habits take time to develop. I’ve heard is said it takes 21 days to form a habit. The characteristic of integrity is not instant. One has to practice honesty each day.
Are you quick in all you do? Or do you take time? Are you thoughtful to those around you at work, in the grocery store, on the soccer field? Make a conscious effort for 21 days to have Christ-like characteristics and soon the actions will be unconscious habits.
Application
What habits do you want to be known for?
 Prayer
May I practice honesty and kindness, so that I may glorify God in all I do.
