“Follow Me”

And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:27

“Follow me on Twitter!” How many times have you heard that from a celebrity or athlete? In 140 characters or less, you get all the inside information and stay connected. The best part; it’s FREE! No cost to follow, pure benefit. Right? And if you don’t like what you are receiving, with a few quick strokes of the keys, he’s deleted.

Over two thousand years ago, someone else spoke the words, “Follow me.” Only His context was much different. The entertainment value was extraordinarily high at times, especially when He performed a miracle. But He asked far more from those who followed Him. Some walked away from their jobs, others left their families, wealth, and possessions. What they gained was tremendous—a relationship with our Savior.

Application

Follow Jesus, even when it’s uncomfortable and inconvenient.

Prayer

Help me follow you and be an example to others, so they will follow too.
