Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God that dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Psalm 84:10
My Granny Lois lived in the country. Her house was in close proximity to my Great Aunt Dot and Great Uncle Woodrow and my Great Aunt Alma. Aunt Alma had a store. So when we went to see my granny, my brother and I would slip off to the store. Aunt Alma had bottle cokes in the cooler and pinwheel cookies in a jar. And she let us have what we wanted. We loved Granny Lois and visiting, but walking down to Aunt Alma’s store was so much more fun.
Often we feel the same way about God. We love Him; but daily concerns are more fun. We cut our time with God short or sometimes even completely out. I would love to spend a little more time with Granny Lois and Aunt Alma, but they are gone. However, God is still here. I can choose to spend as much time with him as I want to.
Application
How do you spend your time?
Prayer
God, teach me how to delight in my time with you.
