“Home”

Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.

Psalm 90:1

To quote Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, “There’s no place like home.” If you’ve always lived in the same place, you may not be able to relate to Dorothy, but if you have ever moved away from the place you call home, you know the longing feeling of not being able to return. When you finally return the feeling that sweeps over you, once you cross the county line, it is indescribable.

No matter where I’ve gone one thing remains constant, God is with me. Time and miles may take me away from my earthly home, but God is with me. I can remember being on the west coast for training. I felt a strong pull to visit the local Methodist church. Just walking in the building gave me a comfort. Like the Israelites who wandered in the wilderness, I may feel as if I’m lost, but God is with me to carry me through.

Application

Wherever you go, God goes with you.

Prayer

Father, help me feel your presence and share your presence wherever I go.
